REST IN PEACE AND/OR RETURN IF POSSIBLE

Disclaimer: You are not dying and I am not wishing anything bad to you. I just want you to think a little bit deeper

Good morning, just in case you can hear our words, decipher our language, and understand this simple greeting. We doubt about your time zone too, for we know nothing about the hereafter. All your friends have chosen me to deliver this speech, or should I say eulogy? Whatever it is, they have given me that special green light. I have so many questions to ask you. Are you seeing us gathering around your lifeless body in this shiny coffin? Have you met that mysterious being of light that receives people's souls, according to Near Death Experience testimonies? How can you describe yourself? Do you remember anything? Anyway, enough of my questions.

I'm pleased to announce that you are dead and all your debts are going to be covered by your family, on whom you haven't spent even a penny. Your lovers are standing in the back, and none of them is crying. Everything you bought to impress your peers and confuse your haters is all in your house, for your coffin couldn't carry them too. I was hired to say nice things about you, but I can't, for nothing feels real at the moment. You postponed prayers several times, and you always thought that God owed you another morning or another day to change your ways, but unknown to you, grains of sand were moving in your hourglass without stopping. I saw missed calls from your mother and unread messages from your father. I played a voice note and heard you arguing with your pastor, if not your priest. You said God would understand, and He did. Your friend invited you to visit his parents, and you said you would come. You went home after work, removed your clothes, and went to take a shower. The last thing you saw, according to the autopsy report, was the ceiling of your bathroom as you breathed your last.

I regret to inform you that you are dead. You went to live with the Father. Considering the fact that everyone here is crying, I wish I could just run and hide, but your friends thought I could manage to deliver this speech. Everyone here can't believe that you are gone. The two street children you used to feed are here, alongside your neighbor whose husband is in prison. One man who has bone cancer wishes he could replace you so that you can keep living. Nobody has ever seen you in Church, but they are testifying that you were a good follower of Christ. Your boots always shone brighter and your uniform was always neat. You used to crack jokes with your neighbors, telling them to pray for you, for you couldn't attend service due to the nature of your work. Your lover and your mom are weeping uncontrollably, your neighbors are all in pain. As we speak, your comrades just gave you gun salute, and we really know that you are gone. You have fought a good fight, and the crown of stars awaits you.
